Akris
Swiss luxury fashion house founded by Alice Kriemler-Schoch in 1922 in St. Gallen town, Switzerland as a aprons atelier, which produced its garment of local fabrics, often with embroidery.
In 1944 Max Kriemler, son of Alice joined the company and he created name Akris from initial of his mother’s name. He also helps the ready to wear collection to expand and cooperate with famous Parisian Couture houses.
In 1980 son of Max, Albert Kriemler took over the company and he made of it international, recognized, luxury fashion house.
Akris house is known for fabrics which is using to make apparel. Like horsehair to make bags (it comes from Mongolian horses tails – no animals are harmed during the process of getting those hairs) and also St. Gallen town is one of the world’s capitals of textile industry, famous of its embroidery which was used by lot of luxury, famous fashion houses, also the Akris.
Akris is well known of its cooperation with many artist like Carolina Herrera, Thomas Ruff, Gustav Klimt, Alexander Girard, Geta Bratescu, Imi Knoebel, Forster Rohner, David Wightman. Brand also made collaboration with architect South Fujimoto and it is making costumes for John Neumeier choreograph.
In 2014 for RTW fall collection Akris and Thomas Ruff made clothes that was embroided with LED lights, one of the dresses from this collection is on pernament exhibition in Museum für Angewandte Kunst (MAK) in Vienna, Austria.
The most famous persons who choose Akris products arwe: Amal Clooney, HSH Charlene Princess of Monaco, Tina Fey, Susan Sarandon, Doris Yaffe, Shakira, Alicia Keys, Angelina Jolie, Diane Sawyer and Condoleezza Rice.
Akris is member of FHCM and Prêt-à-Porter des Couturiers et des Créateurs de Mode federations. From 2004 it is making fashion shows during Paris fashion week.
In 2016 Albert Kriemler was awarded with Couture Council at the Museum of FIT award.
